About 3 km north-east of Bissone, in the charming Mara Valley, there is the mountain village of Arogno, which offers a beautiful view of the Lugano Cove. The origin of this village lies far back in history, as could be demonstrated by the discovery of prehistoric tombs in the near-by environs.
The Parish Church is of great interest. Built in 1638, it is a beautiful sample of Baroque architectural style. The cupula, decorated with frescos, as well as the altar and the renaissance tabernacle are worthwhile sights.
Towards the north, there are the Chapel dedicated to the Madonna of the Cross of Roses, which features rich stucco decorations, and the Antonius Chapel with its illusionary frescos dating from 1730.
