Agarone is situated on the northern border of the Magadino plain, at the foothills of Monte di Colla. The nature reserve Bolle di Magadino is just around the corner, where the rivers Verzasca and Ticino flow into Lake Maggiore. A nature trail that can be reached from Magadino or Tenero teaches tourists how to appreciate and preserve the beauty of its flowers and its wildlife.
A worthwhile destination is also the southern part of the northeastern shores of Lake Maggiore, which is not as crowded with tourists as the northern shores near Ascona. Especially for nature-lovers, the botanic garden Eisenhut on the road from Piazzogna to Vairano is a must.
From Agarone, you can start hiking and biking tours into the Magadino plain spread beneath your feet, or into the quiet woods of the surrounding hills.
